Member benefits

  • A Membership Card is provided following payment of the Membership fee.   This is your proof of membership for free entry to all 20 artist demonstrations plus your 10% discount at Frame-It and Laurence Mathews

  • A listing of the 10xWinter and 10xSummer artist demonstrations are available on the dropdown menu from the Our Club tab above as soon as these are confirmed.  Next demo information is always provided on the homepage together with links to both programmes for easy access.

  • Each member has an individual Gallery display page on the website to showcase their art works.  This provides members with dedicated spaces to write a short bio and provide links to social media profiles and/or their website.  This enables the public to make contact with members directly regarding sales or commissions.

  • Once you become a member you will gain access to log-in to the Members’ Area.  Here you can find a copy of the latest newsletter;  access the Forum for discussion and/or critique; find instructions on how to upload your images for the Members Gallery; plus access application forms for our Exhibitions and important documents.

  • We aim to hold two exhibitions each year, offering an equal opportunity for all our members to sell and/or display their work.

Testimony

"I’m so glad I joined Southend Art Club!  £35 a year feels like an absolute steal given how many classes there are, and how much you learn!

As well as the fantastic classes, being a part of the art club reminds me to dedicate time to art, and all of its members inspire me to do so.  Even if I don’t attend every class, I see them in my calendar, and I make the same time I would have spent attending working on my own personal projects.  As someone working full time, I had really neglected my creative side since leaving school and joining Southend Art Club feels like the first thing that’s really helped me get back into it.

With a mixture of members, hobbyists and professionals, working and retired people, it really feels like you can learn from everyone and their wisdom! I feel so grateful to hear all their experiences, advice, and joyful moments.

Just a few things I have learned so far:

  • How much Pastelmat helps when using pastels from Teresa Seals

  • A better way to sketch out figures from Andy Downes

  • A lightbulb makes a great burnishing tool from Lola Swain

  • How to work with gold leaf from Sharon Stone

But there are many more! My art has definitely improved but it’s also got me more involved with my local community, as well as the art community.  I didn’t realise how much I was missing it but my life is so much richer for it."
